Advocacy Services

Advocacy services provide parents with information and assistance to understand their children’s rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.  Through our advocacy services, Village Learning & Achievement Center provides answers to parents concerning their child’s legal rights, appropriate education, training to parents, information about transition services, and assistive technology availability.

Upon request, Village Learning & Achievement Center advocates accompany parents to their child’s school district admission, review & dismissal (ARD) meetings, and assist parents to establish meaningful, measurable, and educationally relevant goals and objectives for their child’s education.  Advocacy services work in conjunction with local school districts and help find solutions to the many problems that plague our current special education system.

Trained by the school district, Village Learning & Achievement Center’s advocacy team members also act as surrogate parents for children who have no legal guardian to protect their special education rights.
