Volunteer

There are countless ways to support the Village Learning & Achievement Center through volunteer opportunities.  We would love for you or your organization to join us as we seek to make a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities.  Please note that there is an application process required for on-site volunteers.

Events

The Village Learning & Achievement Center hosts a variety of annual fundraising events.  We continuously need willing volunteers to make these events happen.  Please contact Eliza Hudson (ehudson@villagelac.org) at Village Learning & Achievement Center if you are interested in volunteering at any of our annual events.

  • Picnic on the Park Ladies Luncheon (Spring)
  • Picnic on the Park Event at Kingwood Town Center (Spring)
  • Charity Golf Tournament at Tour 18 (Spring/Summer)
  • Gala (Fall/Winter)

Ceramics

Village Learning & Achievement Center’s Plum Valley facility has professional kiln equipment for firing ceramics, which now enables us to fully create our own painted pieces.  Villagers enjoy working with volunteers and painting pieces to be sold.

Please contact Jenn Montgomery at Village Learning & Achievement Center if you are interested in getting involved with our ceramics program.

Activities with Villagers

The activities schedule at Village Learning & Achievement Center stays booked, and we welcome volunteers that would like to participate in planned activities, such as bowling, going to the movies or playing outside.   We also welcome groups that would like to visit the Villagers at Stoney Glen and participate in activities such as leading karaoke or playing basketball, air hockey, or Nintendo Wii.

Please contact Emma Henderson at Village Learning & Achievement Center if you are interested in getting involved.

Office Work

There are often special office projects, such as mailings and filing, that require a great deal of time and effort.  Such projects are perfect opportunities for volunteers to get involved and get a better feel for the programs and services that we make available to the community.

Please contact Lisa Prusak at Village Learning & Achievement Center if you are interested in getting involved.
